Tick what is true for your home

The check runs on your phone. We do not ask for your name, consumer number or Aadhaar, and nothing leaves your device.

Who qualifies

  • Your connection is a domestic connection.
  • You gave the declaration form at your UPCL division office.
  • The connection is not a departmental connection of UPCL, PTCUL or UJVNL staff or pensioners.
  • The subsidy covers one connection for each family.

What you get

  • The State pays 50% of the electricity rates, with the electricity duty, from 1 September 2024 use.
  • Outside snow-bound areas: contracted load up to 1 kW and use up to 100 units a month.
  • Snow-bound areas: use up to 200 units a month. These homes use the RTS-1A tariff.

If you use more than the limit

Above the limit there is no subsidy that month.

How to apply

  1. Give the declaration form at your UPCL division office.
  2. Read the UPCL circulars list. Search for the memo of 27 September 2024. Open the official page
Watch for scams. No official scheme asks you to pay a fee, give an OTP or open a link in a text message. Use only the official links on this page. If someone asks for money to "activate" free units, do not pay.

What we could not confirm

  • The order does not say if the fixed charge is part of the "rates". We keep the fixed charge payable.
  • Our estimate does not include the electricity duty, so the real saving is a little larger.
