Sources we use

We use official sources only: the State regulator’s tariff order, the distribution company’s own notices and circulars, and Government notifications. News reports, other calculators and aggregator sites are leads only. We never take a rate from them.

How we record a rate

Each rate in our tariff registry has the document title, its date, the web address and the page or table where we read it. Each rate also has a status:

  • Verified. We read it in the official document itself. Only verified rates go into a bill.
  • Single-read. We read it once in an official but secondary page, such as a discom FAQ. The calculator does not add it. The page names it in a note.
  • Unverified. We could not confirm it. We do not publish it as a figure.

How we test

Where an official worked example or an official calculator exists, we check our calculator against it before we publish. An independent check also works out sample bills by hand from the registry and compares them with the calculator.

What a bill estimate leaves out

Each calculator lists what it does not add, for example a duty with no current notification, or a fuel charge that the discom has not published. We do not guess a value to fill a gap.

Updates

We check tariff orders when a regulator issues a new one. Fuel charges (FAC, FPPAS, MVCA) change each month or quarter, and we update them from the discom’s notice. Each page shows the date of the order it uses.

Corrections

If you find a wrong rate, email contactus@ebbillcalc.com. Say which state and category, and attach the order or a recent bill with your name, address and consumer number blacked out. We correct confirmed errors and note the change on the tariff changes page.

Independence

ebbillcalc is not connected to any distribution company, regulator or government department. Ads do not change any figure. The site is developed and maintained by Sri Murugan Systems, Madurai.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help find official documents, read them and draft page text. A tool never sets a figure on its own: each rate comes from the official document, with its page reference, and goes through the checks above before we publish it.

Who is responsible

Murugan Vellaichamy, the founder and editor, is responsible for the content. Read more on the about page.

Your data

The calculators run in your browser. The units, readings and amounts you type do not leave your device.
