What a correct Madhya Pradesh bill shows
For 200 units a month, a home on the Madhya Pradesh tariff should see these lines. Use them to test your own bill line by line.
| Line | Units × rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Energy, units 1–50 | 50 × ₹4.71 | ₹235.50 |
| Energy, units 51–150 | 100 × ₹5.67 | ₹567.00 |
| Energy, units 151–300 | 50 × ₹7.05 | ₹352.50 |
| Fixed charge | ₹420.00 | |
| Bill | ₹1,575.00 |
Urban home, 2 kW, the calculator’s default options. Duty and the monthly fuel surcharge are not in this example unless the tariff builds them in.
What to check on a Madhya Pradesh bill
- The fixed charge depends on your sanctioned load. Check that the load on the bill is the load on your connection.
- Urban and rural homes pay different rates. Check that the bill uses the correct area.
- The FPPAS can change from bill to bill. Type the figure printed on your bill.
- A State scheme (Atal Griha Jyoti) lowers the bill. Check that the bill shows it.
- An estimated or average reading gives a wrong bill. Compare the reading on the bill with your meter.

About the checker
What does the bill checker do?
It works out what the current tariff says each line of your bill should be, for the units and load printed on it, and compares that with the amounts you type in. If a line does not match, it tries every setting the tariff allows (load, rural or urban, phase and so on) to find one that explains the difference.
Is my bill sent anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored.
What should I do if a line does not match?
First check the units, load and category printed on the bill. If the bill uses an estimated or average reading, or the wrong load or category, ask your discom to correct it. If that does not settle it, you can complain to the discom’s Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum.
Why is there money left over after energy and fixed charges?
Most bills add electricity duty, a monthly fuel surcharge, meter rent, cesses or arrears. Type those lines in too and the checker accounts for them.
