Government schemes in Karnataka
Schemes that change what a home pays, read from the government order, the regulator’s order or the discom’s own notice. Checked 15 October 2026.
Gruha Jyothi In the calculator, on by default
Each home gets its 2022-23 monthly average + 10% free, up to 200 units. The bill for those eligible units is deducted and the net bill is payable; within the limit the bill is zero. Above 200 units in a month the whole bill is payable that month, and the home stays in the scheme. New connections and homes without a full 2022-23 record are given 53 units, the state average. The 17-07-2023 order sets a different limit for some households. Registration on Seva Sindhu with Aadhaar is required; tenants register with Aadhaar linked to the rented address. BESCOM’s July 2026 FAQ confirms the limits stay at the 2022-23 average + 10%.
- The order deducts the bill for the eligible units but does not say how fixed charges and tax are split when you use more than your limit. We deduct the same share of the whole bill as your eligible units are of the units used.
- More than one meter: the 2023 order allows one meter for each person; BESCOM’s July 2026 FAQ says the benefit continues for all meters that complete the verification. Follow your bill.
- News reports from 2024 say the limit changed to the average + 10 units. No official order was found and BESCOM’s 2026 FAQ still says + 10%, so we use + 10%. The figure printed on your bill takes priority.

Karnataka bill questions
How much is the electricity bill for 100 units in Karnataka?
About ₹467.27 for 100 units in a month, using the current KERC tariff. Sanctioned load 2 kW, urban, single phase. With Gruha Jyothi applied (on by default; see Government schemes below). Electricity duty and the monthly fuel surcharge are not included.
What will 200 or 300 units cost in Karnataka?
Roughly ₹1,221.13 for 200 units, and ₹2,328.60 for 300 units. Use the calculator above for your exact units and load.
Are Karnataka domestic slabs telescopic?
There is a single rate for all units, so there are no slabs to cross.
How often are Karnataka electricity bills issued?
Homes are billed monthly. Enter the units for one billing period.
Which tariff order are these Karnataka rates from?
KERC Combined Tariff Order 2025 - APR FY2023-24 and ARR & Retail Supply Tariff for control period FY2025-26 to FY2027-28 (BESCOM, MESCOM, CESC, HESCOM, GESCOM), dated 27 March 2025, in force from 1 April 2026. A link to the PDF is in the sources box on this page.
What does this estimate leave out?
FPPCA and FY25 true-up instalments not included. Tax base taken as energy + fixed charges (the Act taxes charges payable for electricity, excluding arrears). Gruha Jyothi limit taken as 53 units (new-connection limit). Enter the eligible units printed on your bill for your own figure.
Where is the consumer number on my Karnataka electricity bill?
The name differs by discom. BESCOM: Account ID (10 digits). The table on this page shows where each discom prints it, when its official pages say so.
Where to find your consumer number
Your bill shows a number that identifies your connection. In Karnataka the discom calls it:
| Discom | Name on the bill | Digits | Where to find it | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BESCOM | Account ID | 10 | — | BESCOM consumer portal FAQ |
From the discoms’ own websites, bill guides and sample bills, read on 17 October 2026. Where the source is a sample bill, we read only its layout: the label, the place and the number of digits. A dash means the official page we read does not say. Never share your consumer number with an unknown caller or app.
We could not read official pages for Other Karnataka ESCOMs (MESCOM, HESCOM, GESCOM, CESC Mysore), so they are not in the table.
