Sun and solar output in Uttar Pradesh
Sunshine in Uttar Pradesh is 4.7 to 5.2 kWh per m² a day, by district (average 4.9). So 1 kW of panels makes about 3.7 units a day here, or 110 units a month.
The sunniest district is Pratapgarh and the least sunny is Ambedkar Nagar.
| District | Sun, kWh/m² a day | Units a day from 1 kW | Units a month from 3 kW |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pratapgarh | 5.2 | 3.9 | 351 |
| Lalitpur | 5.2 | 3.9 | 351 |
| Firozabad | 5.2 | 3.9 | 351 |
| Bareilly | 4.7 | 3.5 | 317 |
| Ayodhya | 4.7 | 3.5 | 317 |
| Ambedkar Nagar | 4.7 | 3.5 | 317 |

Uttar Pradesh has net metering rules for homes. See the bill with rooftop solar and net metering.
Solar with battery questions
What is the difference between hybrid and off-grid solar?
A hybrid system keeps your grid connection: panels cut your bill through net metering and a battery runs essential loads in a power cut. An off-grid system has no grid connection, so the panels and battery must cover your whole use, including cloudy days.
Is there a subsidy for solar with a battery?
For grid-connected systems, yes. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is worked out on the solar panel capacity, and the battery is not subsidised. Off-grid systems are not eligible.
How much roof space does it need?
MNRE says about 10 square metres of shadow-free area per kW. A 3 kW system needs about 30 m², roughly 320 sq ft.
Where do the sun hours come from?
