How to read your Goa electricity bill

This guide shows where to find your Contract Account No and due date. It shows how the A to E bill summary adds up. It tells you what FPPCA and the 2 duties are.

All names, numbers and amounts are invented. The layout follows the official Goa Electricity Department sample (Goa Electricity Department bill sample (English and Konkani), February 2024). The official sample is a 2024 bill. The department covered the personal details. Each explanation links to the Goa Electricity Department document that it comes from.

Where is my consumer number?

The Goa bill calls it the Contract Account No. It is at the top left. It has 11 digits and starts with 600. See #1 on the sample

When must I pay?

Pay by the due date, in the top right block. After this date, the department adds delay payment charges. See #3 on the sample

How many units did I use?

See the consumption column in the meter table. See #4 on the sample

How does the total add up?

Total = A + B + C + D + E in the bill summary. These are arrears or advance, advance payable, delay charges, the bill for this month and rounding. See #5 on the sample

Why are there 2 duties?

The bill has electricity duty and public lighting duty. Each is a charge for each unit. See #8, #9 on the sample

Is there a discount if I pay early?

Yes. You get 0.25% if you pay in the 7 days before the due date. You get 1% for an electronic payment at least 7 days in advance. See #10 on the sample

From meter reading to payment

  1. Bill dateThe department makes the bill.

    Contract Account No

    This is your account number. It has 11 digits and starts with 600. It is at the top left of the bill. Use it to register for e-bills. The payment stub also shows it.

    Tariff category

    This is your tariff category. The JERC tariff order for Goa gives its rates.

    Due date

    Pay on or before this date. On the official sample, the due date is 14 days after the bill date. If you pay late, the department adds delay payment charges. The bill also has a notice of disconnection under section 56 of the Electricity Act.

    Meter readings

    Reading difference = current reading − previous reading. Consumption = reading difference × MF (multiplication factor).

    Bill summary

    Amount payable by the due date = A + B + C + D + E. A is the previous arrears or advance. B is the advance payable. C is the delay payment charges up to the bill date. D is the present total bill. E is the rounding.

    Current demand calculation

    This table shows how the department calculated the charges for this month. It shows the fixed charges, the energy charges for each slab and the fuel and power purchase cost adjustment.

    FPPCA

    FPPCA is the fuel and power purchase cost adjustment. It is a charge for each unit. The department gives the FPPCA for each month on its “Tariff and other charges” page. See fuel surcharge this month.

    Electricity duty

    This is a duty for each unit. The official sample shows ₹0.70 for each unit. The December 2025 notification gives the current rate.

    Discounts for paying early

    You get a discount of 0.25% if you pay in the 7 days before the due date (LT domestic and agriculture). You get a rebate of 1% for an electronic payment at least 7 days in advance.

Pay or see your bill online

These are official Goa Electricity Department channels only.

Pay only on official channels. ebbillcalc does not ask for your consumer number. ebbillcalc does not take payments. Some messages say that your power will be cut tonight. They tell you to call a number or install an app. Do not do this.
