Late payment surcharge on your bill
If you pay after the due date, the next bill adds a surcharge on the unpaid amount.
The commission sets the rate. Tamil Nadu LT: 1.5% a month on arrears. Chhattisgarh: 0.04% a day on the outstanding bill.
Example (Chhattisgarh): Rs 2,000 unpaid for 20 days gives 2,000 x 0.04% x 20 = Rs 16.
Bills may print it as LPS, LPSC, DPS or BPSC.
Pay by the due date. Online and auto-pay options help you avoid the charge.
