Sun and solar output in Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Sunshine in Andaman & Nicobar Islands is 5.0 to 5.0 kWh per m² a day, by district (average 5.0). So 1 kW of panels makes about 3.8 units a day here, or 112 units a month.
The sunniest district is South Andamans and the least sunny is Nicobars.
| District | Sun, kWh/m² a day | Units a day from 1 kW | Units a month from 3 kW |
|---|---|---|---|
| South Andamans | 5.0 | 3.8 | 338 |
| North And Middle Andaman | 5.0 | 3.8 | 338 |
| Nicobars | 5.0 | 3.8 | 338 |
NASA POWER long-term annual average. Panels at a 75% performance ratio, as in the calculator. Shade, dust and the roof angle change the real figure.
Andaman & Nicobar Islands has net metering rules for homes. See the bill with rooftop solar and net metering.
Solar with battery questions
What is the difference between hybrid and off-grid solar?
A hybrid system keeps your grid connection: panels cut your bill through net metering and a battery runs essential loads in a power cut. An off-grid system has no grid connection, so the panels and battery must cover your whole use, including cloudy days.
Is there a subsidy for solar with a battery?
For grid-connected systems, yes. The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is worked out on the solar panel capacity, and the battery is not subsidised. Off-grid systems are not eligible.
How much roof space does it need?
MNRE says about 10 square metres of shadow-free area per kW. A 3 kW system needs about 30 m², roughly 320 sq ft.
Where do the sun hours come from?
From NASA POWER’s long-term average of daily sunshine for your district. Enter your PIN code to pick the district automatically.
