What the Ladakh rules say

Charging at home. The tariff order says that charging your own EV at home uses the tariff of your home. The text: “11.25. In case the consumer uses electricity supply for charging his own electric vehicle at his premises, the tariff applicable shall be as per the category of such premises.” (JERC (J&K and Ladakh) Tariff Order FY 2026-27 for LPDD, Order 05 of 2026 (18-08-2026), Ch.11 Schedule 9, printed p.203 (pdf p.226)).

A separate EV connection. We did not find a rule in the order that gives a home its own EV connection. The EV rate in the order is for charging stations.

How we work it out

  • We price your bill twice: with your present units, and with the EV units added. The difference is the cost of the EV.
  • EV units = km × energy use per km, plus the charging loss.
  • The energy use comes from the maker’s battery size and certified range (IDC for scooters, MIDC or ARAI for cars). These ranges are tests, so real use is higher.
  • The 10% charging loss is our assumption. You can change it.
  • Petrol cost = km ÷ mileage × price. The mileage is the maker’s claimed figure.
