Smart meter on your bill
A smart meter has time-of-use registers and a built-in switch. It talks to the discom both ways.
The discom reads it remotely, at least once a month. You can see use on an app or website.
Smart meters make ToD billing possible. Central rules apply ToD soon after a smart meter is fitted.
Most smart meters run in prepaid mode, but some run as postpaid meters.
Check your daily use in the app. It helps you spot faults and high-use appliances early.
