How we work it out

  • One home: urban, single phase, 2 kW. It uses 100, 200 or 300 units a month.
  • The bill is energy charge plus fixed and customer charges, from the tariff in each order. It does not include electricity duty, tax or fuel surcharge.
  • “In today’s rupees” uses the consumer price index of MoSPI (all India, general). We use the average of the months of each financial year. For 2026-27 we use April to September.

What we could not confirm

  • We did not find the JERC orders for 2015-16. We took the 2015-16 rates from the 2016 orders, which list them as the existing tariff.
  • We could not confirm a fixed charge for Daman and Diu homes in 2015-16. Our bill for that year leaves out a fixed charge.
  • The orders state that each slab rate applies only to the units in that slab, but the tables do not repeat this. We bill each slab in this way.
  • The order of 2025 gives a column for each year. We take 1 April 2026 as the start of the second-year rates.
  • JERC adds a regulatory surcharge in some years, for example 5% in 2025-26. Our figures leave it out, and also the fuel cost adjustment.

Questions

How much has the electricity tariff gone up in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu since 2015?

For Dadra & Nagar Haveli: For 200 units a month, the JERC (Goa & UTs) tariff went from ₹330 in 2015-16 to ₹455 in 2026-27, +38%. Prices in general rose +63% in that time, so the tariff fell 16% after inflation.

Why did the two areas have different tariffs before 2023?

Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu had separate power departments with separate JERC orders. DNHDDPDCL took over supply in both areas on 1 April 2022. JERC set one tariff from 1 August 2023.

Who sets the electricity tariff here?

The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for Goa and Union Territories (JERC) sets the tariff for both areas.

Are electricity duty and fuel surcharge in these figures?

No. The figures show energy, fixed and customer charges only. Your bill also has electricity duty or tax, and a fuel surcharge in most months.
